BEST unveils significant innovative upgrades to its sorting solutions.

Leuven, Oktober 18, 2010

At BEST, innovation means not only creating new concepts, but also doing research to retrofit our existing equipment with the latest and greatest, according to customer feedback and needs. The company has a big focus on quality and reliability and is constantly striving to develop advanced, innovative and complete solutions for every sorting challenge imaginable. The investments in R&D are now again showing great results, with the launch of a new version of the Genius™, Felix™ and Ixus™ sorter.

Genius™ Belt sorter
The Genius™ remains a long-life, high performance machine with proven technology. It now features a new design for improved maintenance and to assure the company’s philosophy of low operation costs. The sorter has a new frame, which results in better sanitation, extensions are easier to install in the field and belt exchange design has been significantly improved for quick replacement.

The novelties are not limited to the mechanics, also in the optical configuration, BEST continues to excel. The Genius™ can be equipped with a new BEST camera, exclusively developed for BEST, and with a spectrum specifically adapted to sorting. On top of that, BEST also generated a handful of other optical innovations based on camera technology. The cameras feature new industrial high quality BEST lenses, with an optimal focus. BEST now offers multiple options and unlimited optical combinations for its Genius™ belt sorter.

Also the software went through a boost of developments. It now features a general shape sorting toolbox, which allows the user, to easily sort on shape characteristics.

The sorting machine contains a module to measure statistics of the incoming quality of the product while the machine is sorting on the processing line. The product classification module, features defect trend analyses and inline length measurement, completely integrated in the system.

The Genius™ can be equipped with a Fresh Carrot Sorting module, allowing to sort on shape of carrots at a high speed and on large volumes. The sorter at that moment also takes out discolorations and foreign material.

The Genius™ sorter also features OPC (OLE for Process Control) possibilities, for companies who want to integrate it in their complete processing line monitoring.

Felix™ sorter
This gross defect sorter, placed at the beginning of the processing line, is used to do a first rough sorting on bigger foreign material amongst green beans. The Felix™ removes the things you really don’t want in your end products like rodents, frogs, snakes, plastic, etc. based on structural and colour differences. BEST now launches a new application for this sorter. The Felix™ now also takes out the bigger foreign material and major discolorations out of carrots. A special infeed shaker and stabilization roll are specifically developed in order to generate results close to perfection.

IXUS™ Sorter
BEST also launches a new version of its x-ray sorters, the IXUS™ Bulk 800. This larger x-ray sorter has a revolutionary new design that is easier to integrate. The remote control features makes this unit a walk in the park to integrate in your processing line.

These new models are launched at the IPA fair in Paris on October 17th. Visit the BEST booth in Hall 7, booth number C24 and learn what this revolutionary sorters can do for your business.
