Leuven, Belgium, May 24th 2007 : BEST acquires the Pacific Jet Sorter from REM Pacific located in BOW, Washington USA. With this acquisition, BEST continues its expansion in the field of hi-tech sorting machinery.

BEST and its branches have supplied sorting machines to the industry since 1972 and the company is market leader in sorting technology. From the first day on, the company has known a continuous growth and has reached a total sales figure in sorting solutions of 60 million dollars in 2006. BEST has branches in Leuven (Belgium), Denver (Colorado, USA), Eindhoven (Netherlands) and Hong Kong (Asia) where 150 people are employed. Today BEST is the only sorting solution provider that has all available technologies under one roof : laser, camera, LED, fluorescence, shape and X-ray.

REM Pacific, based in BOW, Washington, about 70 miles North of Seattle, is an American engineering and manufacturing company specialized in machine vision inspection and sorting. Their goal is to apply the best modern technology to address the practical needs of today's agricultural products like for small fruit and vegetable production. The product to be graded can be fresh, frozen, or wet processed.

BEST Pacific Inc, the company born from this acquisition, is a new subsidiary of BEST. Thanks to this acquisition, BEST will enter into the fresh market of small fruit and will strengthen its position in the North West of the US by having a local service presence. REM has done an excellent job in promoting and adopting the Pacific Jet Sorter (PJS) to the blueberry industry. The PJS will now get a worldwide exposure through the extensive sales network of BEST. BEST Pacific Inc will take care of the production of the Pacific Jet Sorters and will act as a service and parts centre for all BEST equipment. Darrell Mintz has been appointed as the Vice President of BEST Pacific Inc.
