Ixus™ MSX, Multi Spectral X-ray, is the perfect solution for products with unequal density over the whole package. The MSX technology can be compared with what is used in airport security scanners to recognize specific materials. BEST has adopted and improved this technology to detect the smallest contaminants between food products.

For the food industry, bags of vegetable mixes for example, contain a large quantity of small and large pieces absorbing more or less x-rays. A classical x-ray sorter will take an image with a big variation in grey values on all scales, making the detection of contaminants very difficult. By processing two different images with the Ixus™ MSX, contaminants like metals, glass, stones, high density plastics, rubber or bones are detected having a better contrast between the defect and the good product, whatever the size.
